a little about me…

Professional Stuff

  • I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University.

  • I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT#99991) in the state of California.

I Have Training/Certifications in:

  • MBSR (Mindfulness-Based-Stress-Reduction). I completed teacher-training in MBSR at Insight L.A., with Dr. Christiane Wolf, MD.

  • Unified Mindfulness: Mindfulness For Clinicians, See, Hear, Feel technique (Shinzen Young’s mindfulness meditation method).

  • Mindfulness-Based Habit Formation (I trained with Dr. Judson Brewer)

Additionally…

  • I have appeared as a featured expert on numerous television shows, on networks such as OWN, Discovery Health Channel, and The Science Channel.

  • For several years, I led the Mindfulness and Meditation Program at Bridges To Recovery, a residential treatment facility for mood and personality disorders.

  • I have written articles such as "5 Steps to Changing Your Behavior", and provided interviews on mindfulness+meditation, like this one Mindfulness Meditation.

I am a mom, wife, daughter, friend, neighbor, community member, and writer (I write all my own content and copy, no AI or hired hands here). I am strong, wise, straightforward, down-to-earth, fun, a little OCD, and my weakness is that I curse a lot.

In addition to my love of psychology, for over thirty years I have been an avid explorer and practitioner of various body-heart-mind practices, including but not limited to mindfulness, meditation, breath work, and yoga. I’m pretty passionate about mindfulness and meditation (have you noticed?)! I truly believe they have the power to make the world a better place.

I love learning about how humans can improve their overall well-being, and passing along this knowledge and skills through therapy, teaching, and coaching.

Personal Stuff

When I was in my 20's and 30's, I struggled with many of the issues that my clients face (my jams were anxiety and panic).  By the time I reached my 40's, I had found a powerful combination of psychotherapy, mindfulness, meditation, and self-care methods that helped me, and then my clients, enormously. I am grateful to be able to share some body-heart-mind wisdom with others, and to see their lives transformed for the better.

I am originally from Portland, Oregon, but have lived in Los Angeles for nearly 30 years. Some of my core personal values include laughing with family and friends, mindfulness+meditation+movement, mother nature, personal growth+learning, helping others, and living authentically. I am young-at-heart, yet benefit from the wisdom gleaned from years of hard-earned strength and resilience. I’ve been around a while, been through some things, seen and done some things-I have earned my stripes (and my titles), my friends.
